How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when trying to carry out tasks that could have otherwise needed utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific machine make it the right alternative for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries will need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the equipment near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located near the control box or the charger, in the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, models that are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
