Classifications of Scissor Lifts & Aerial Lift Platforms
Scissor lifts and aerial platforms allow workers to work on elevated structures in a safe manner and enable them to get to things and structures. These platforms and lifts provide friendly user controls to maneuver the platform and the base independently. This enables the machine to get around things. There are many available lift designs that are suitable for specific applications and environments.
Scissor Lift
Using a series of crisscrossed connected steel arms, the scissor lift is designed to make an X patterned support system when the lift is raised vertically. Workers use a big rectangle platform which is attached to the top of the lifting mechanism. There are support railings along the edges to provide added safety.
The scissor lift features a low profile that is great for pavement, hard and compact dirt surfaces and concrete. These machinery make use of either an electric motor or a combustion engine to power the lifting device as well as the lift.
Rough Terrain Scissor Lift
The rough terrain scissor lift uses the same lifting technology as the standard scissor lift model. The rough terrain unit differs in that it features a specific base which is designed for surfaces that are uneven. The rough terrain even provides a higher ground clearance and all terrain oversized tires. These models offer lower lifting heights overall because of the higher center of gravity of the equipment.
Telescopic Boom Lift
The telescopic boom lift offers a telescoping beam which rises both diagonally and vertically. This machinery provides a small work platform outfitted with controls to operate the boom. The controls use a combustion or an IC engine in order to power the hydraulics and lift the boom.
Articulating Boom Lift
Articulating booms have two telescopic booms connected together with a moving elbow. This lifting equipment provides a bucket or a small working platform equipped with hand controls that are used to control the boom. The articulating lift is capable of reaching on top buildings and over things.
