NA and VNA Trucks: There are some truck models that have VNA or very narrow aisle features or narrow aisle or NA features. Most counterbalanced trucks require at least 11 feet of aisle width in order to operate efficiently and safely. Narrow Aisle trucks however, are able to operate in narrow aisles which are 8 to 10 feet wide. In addition, very narrow aisle or VNA trucks could operate in aisles as narrow as 6 feet wide.
NA and VNA trucks provide a lot of benefits since they make it possible for warehouses to be built with narrower aisles. This results in the warehouse being able to successfully store many more things in a specific area, improving cube utilization. The loads moved by Narrow Aisle and VNA trucks normally are limited to about 3000 and 5000 pounds. Reach trucks could operate in narrow aisle. Turret trucks, rotating mast trucks and order selectors are able to operate within narrow or very narrow aisles, depending on the particular unit.
Reach Trucks: Specifically designed for storage and retrieval, reach trucks are made with telescoping forks and outriggers which enables the operator to lift and retract a load over the outriggers. These units are not suitable for unloading or loading trucks, nor for transporting loads quickly over long distances. Like the order selector, reach trucks could be available for lifting heights which are greater than 30 feet.
Rotating-Mast Trucks and Turret Trucks: Similar to standard sit-down forklifts, rotating mast trucks have masts that could rotate in one direction, to a 90 degree angle. This particular feature enables them to function in a narrow aisle situation. Turret trucks could work in very narrow or narrow aisle places. Similar to order selectors, these machinery are capable of elevating both the operator and the load. Furthermore, they are able to allow the operator to deal with loads on either side of an aisle without re-entering and exiting the aisle.
Turret trucks are normally rail or wire guided when they are used within very narrow aisles. This way, the operator can focus on the work load at hand since they doesn't need to focus any energy on their driving skills. Since turret trucks are considered "operator-up" trucks, they are able to be used for case and item picking in addition to full pallet handling.
