Various Kinds of Aerial Lift
A specialized kind of heavy machinery that allows a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are typically utilized to perform repairs on places which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like the majority of tools, there are various types of aerial lifts that could be utilized to perform different tasks. For the utmost safety, every kind of different type of machine requires right training and specific certification prior to operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly utilized indoors. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven like large carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could use these tools, workers have to be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a much more complicated kind of aerial lift equipment compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift usually has a much wider base to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that enables the operator to lower and lift the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it could move from side to side as well. The boom lift resembles a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, hence, operators should be certified separately for these kinds of lifts.
