Forklift trucks are essential pieces of equipment utilized commonly in business, specially in distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling plants. A lift truck is made of hundreds of parts, like the carriage, the cab, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have a variety of attachments also. The following are several of the most important parts of a forklift.
Forklift Engine - the lift truck is designed with a power source at the rear of the machine. Various types of lift trucks have various kinds of engine which require varying power sources. For example, a forklift with an IC engine can have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most essential of all the lift truck parts is the truck frame. This forms the equipment's core. All other lift truck components are attached to the base, including the counterweight, overhead guard, wheels, axles and mast. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - the counterweight is what allows the machine to be balanced while carrying heavy loads. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric lift truck, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and may work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Several forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really a lot of components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components as the pedals, seats, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
