Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas orderly and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
